Li Na’s talk was well-received by over 600 Conference attendees, who were excited to hear a personal account of her life and career experiences. Li Na during her fire-side chat being asked questions about her tennis career and life experiences. She talked about how tennis helped her grow as a person. Li Na was the first Chinese player to win a WTA tour title at the Guangzhou International Women’s Open in 2004, the first to reach a Grand Slam singles quarterfinal at the 2006 Wimbledon Championships, and the first to break into the world’s top 10.
Li Na talked about the impact she had on the game of tennis within China. During her career Li Na achieved a career-best ranking of world No. 2 on the WTA Tour on 17 February 2014. Seven months later Li Na retired from the sport of tennis to pursue starting her family. Li Na is still considered the key catalyst in the growth of tennis enthusiasts within Asia. She has earned the reputation as the region’s tennis pioneer and trailblazer.
